Elevating team dynamics: More creative than a trust fall

If you had to work anywhere in the world, where would it be? Dale Calhoun and Sally Brauer may have found their working paradise in Langkawi, Malaysia.

The brief

A globally dispersed team in a successful organisation navigating a dynamic business landscape—we needed to create opportunity and space away from the ‘busyness’ for the team to take time out to learn more about each other and have some fun.

The setting

Langkawi, with its breathtaking vistas, not only served as a tranquil backdrop but also provided the perfect canvas to extend team relationships and development beyond the confines of a conference room.

Building relationships beyond boardrooms

Over 2 days and 3 nights, we engaged the team in a myriad of activities, each carefully curated to enhance collaborative learning, navigating team dynamics and fostering connection. From invigorating nature walks and morning yoga sessions to the creativity of LEGO Serious Play (LSP) and the challenge of kayaking through the mangroves, every activity was an opportunity for growth and connection.

Our approach extended beyond conventional team-building exercises. We created an environment that allowed team members to delve into each other’s strengths, quirks, and motivations, through cooking, learning, playing, eating and having fun together.

We think it’s safe to say that we proved that there are more creative ways to build relationships and trust than a ‘trust fall’ or ‘human knot’. Our approach exemplified that meaningful team building can be both enjoyable and impactful.

What’s next?

As a team, we eagerly welcome any future opportunities to blend work with the allure of a tropical paradise. Of course, we’re equally adept at excelling in a conference room if need be. Because for us, it’s not just about where we work; it’s about how we work together to create meaningful experiences for your team.
